Keep it about where it is - middle of the country & slightly inconvenient for everyone is better than one end or the other & impossible to get to for half the hobby.
I like the idea of making a Xmas tag style weekender of it, only in February. Social on Friday, convention on Saturday, intro skirmishing on Sunday & let people turn up for the bit(s) they want. |
I like the sound of that also. _________________ James Dawes |

Now look guys - I've already missed TagCon 2010 and you're planning on setting me up so I'll miss the 2011?
Shame on you!
Now lets take it a little further south and just a tad east and about 13 hours ahead of GMT............

You can have sunshine and views for most of the year or you can have TagCon... pick one _________________ Simon Pratt

As I've said previously, I am okay with current location and format, but if people want a change I'm okay with that too.
However whatever the venue or format one thing I think is seriously worthwhile keeping is the conference format element of Tagcon.
It is a chance for the hobby as whole, or at least as much of it that can make to Tagcon, to discuss some of the things affecting the hobby. Not just the stuff like new rules or forthcoming games, although that is important, but things like legislation (e.g. VCR) and stuff like the formation of UKLTA.
This opportunity for serious discussion is something which I think is worth keeping. _________________ "The wages of sin don't adjust for inflation." |

Hi all,
The thought of merging Xmas Tag and TagCon together is a little like downsizing, for a (relatively) new organisation, this is a little risky, especially since Tagcon lays down the upcoming events while Xmas Tag is more an overview of past events with a look to future prospects.
Personally, keep them both, TagCon kicks of each season's tagging and Xmas Tag closes it, the format works and that's my view regarding that issue.
As for changing the venue, here are a few issues I'd have with it:
1) Moving the venue West. I'm on the East Coast and I mean on the coast itself, the venue's quite a hike as it is but doable, putting it further over to the West will probably rule me out of attending.
2) Moving the venue South. It really depends on what is meant by south, it is means southern midlands then it'll probably remain reasonably central for all taggers to get to. Further South could make it out of reach for a number of taggers.
And finally, while I've probably griped where I shouldn't, how about a suggestion or two for a venue?
A) Has anyone thought of Bletchley Park (Station X) in Milton Keynes? I'm not sure how feasable it'll be but we could hire one one of the conference rooms of the manor house in the grounds of Bletchley Park, they do have catering and it would be fairly central for us all to get to.
B) Keep it where it is. Blunt, to the point and at this moment in time, my preference, I like the venue and I like the layout of the place, warm comfortable and generally convenient to our needs.
One last note to cogitate on is this:
Wherever we go, we will need somewhere we can have the following:
I) Parking
II) Catering
III) Conveniences
IV) Conference room (either secluded or able to close curtains to avoid problems when
instructing on certain issues or upcoming event requirements) also with visual and audio facilities
V) Ease of access (not just physically getting into the venue but somewhere all or a
majority can reach)
Okay, that's me done, I've probably gabbed on more than I should have (typical of me ) so I think I'll leave it on a note of where I mentioned earlier: TagCon at start of the season, Xmas Tag at the end. Keep the venue where it is or try out Bletchley Park, Milton Keynes.
That's it, roast my comments over hot coals if you disagree! _________________ Seagoon: Private! I've got some bad news!

Could I ask what the date for this is as I'm about to negotiate attendance at foreign Fields Southern kit fair and would hate to miss Tag Con whilst chatting to Larpers ?

There is no fixed date for it at this stage, currently February 5th is my personal preferred date but ultimately it's up to Dai and then if the venue can accommodate us. _________________ “Spend a few years as a covert operative, and a sunny beach just looks like a vulnerable tactical position with no decent cover."
